Rossmann reports record sales of 13.9 billion euros. Also thanks to higher prices

by Forbes Andorra

Last year, sales of the German drugstore chain Rossmann rose by 14.4 percent to a record 13.9 billion euros (almost 343 billion crowns). Higher consumer prices also contributed to this growth.

The company, which also operates in the Czech Republic, continues to expand its branch network. The company published the data on its website, but it does not mention the net profit as in previous years.

Germany remained by far the most important market last year with a turnover of 9.3 billion euros.

Approximately 39,600 people work for the company in the domestic market, and Rossmann employs approximately 62,100 people in total.

Foreign branches contributed 4.6 billion euros to total sales. But they grew much more significantly than domestic business. More than half of the branches are now located abroad and about a third of sales are generated there. The Rossmann company is represented in Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Albania, Kosovo and Turkey, and from 2021 it operates an online store in Denmark.

Overall, the number of stores increased by roughly 200 last year to more than 4,700. This year, the company plans to open 253, including 75 in Germany.
