Visiting Disney is more expensive as of today: How much do tickets cost?

by forbes
The Walt Disney Company is banking on the theme park business to deliver higher profits for the entire company, with increases of between 5.9% and 6.5%.
Effective today, Disneyland has raised ticket prices for its theme parks: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. Prices have risen from 5.9% to 6.5% on average, with the cheapest single-day ticket (Tier 0) remaining at $104 , while the most expensive ticket (Tier 6) is now $206 .

Disneyland multi-day tickets are also up about 6.5 percent, with two-day tickets starting at $330, up from $310. Longer five-day tickets are now $511, up from $480.

The theme park’s annual resort passes, called Magic Key Passes , also saw increases ranging from 6% to 20%, the latter percentage for the lowest Imagine Key tier, for Southern California residents only, which now costs $599. The most expensive Magic Key pass rose about 6% to $1,749. Although such tickets are not currently on sale, Disneyland said new sales of the annual pass program will resume at the end of the year.

The Lightning Lane Multi Pass, the service that allows you to skip the line, also increased in price. At Disneyland, visitors can pay for the service before arriving at the parks for $32 per person per day. This is a 6.7% increase from the previous price of $30.

Disneyland’s history of increases

MickeyVisit.com released a study looking at the past decade of price increases at Disneyland, from 2014 through 2024, keeping in mind that tiered pricing was not introduced at Disneyland until 2016. The most expensive single-park, daily admission ticket increased by $110, or 114.58%. On the other side of the scale, the cheapest single-park, daily admission ticket only increased by $8, or 8.33%.

Park Hopper tickets also increased, with the most expensive single-park, per-day option increasing by $131, or 87.33%. The lowest-priced Park Hopper ticket increased by $19, or 12.67%. If you purchase Disneyland’s longest and most expensive multi-day ticket, a five-day Park Hopper , the price increased by $311 from 2014 to 2024, or 101.87% more.

The study also shows that in the year between March 24, 2024, and March 24, 2025, Disneyland will have 34 days of tickets available at the lowest cost of Tier 0, or less than 10%. In the same period, 55 days will have tickets available at the highest cost of Tier 6, or about 15%.

«All of these increases come at a time when in-person entertainment is more popular than ever. Demand (and attendance at Disneyland) remains strong. It’s also a time when wages are rising, Disney is investing in expanding its attractions with new options for Disneyland. The Walt Disney Company as a whole is relying on the theme park business to drive increased profits for the entire company,» said Gavin Doyle , founder of MickeyVisit.com .

Why are prices going up at Disney?

It’s inevitable that Disneyland will raise prices every year, but the question isn’t if, but how much.

Which is the most convenient ticket?

Fans thinking about purchasing a new annual Magic Key need to think carefully about the increased costs. According to Disneyland, the Imagine Key pays for itself in four park visits, when compared to the tier 0  Park Hopper pass.

The most expensive Inspire Key will require 11 theme park visits to break even based on Level 0 Park Hopper pricing. The other two Magic Key tiers, Enchant and Believe , now cost $974 and $1,374, respectively, and pay for themselves in six or nine visits, respectively.

Along with the ability to enter the parks on designated days, Magic Key holders enjoy other perks that can help offset the cost of the pass. Benefits are based on Magic Key level, but typically include discounts on parking, dining, and merchandise. There is also currently a 25% discount on the Lightning Lane Multi Pass for Magic Key holders.

Starting in 2025, Annual Pass holders will have a few additional benefits, such as certain times when the Lightning Lane Multi-Pass will be discounted by 50%. The first time this benefit will be offered will be from January 6 to January 31, 2025.

How to avoid high prices at Disneyland

«There are still options for guests to prioritize a value vacation over a vacation at the best time. If you’re willing to travel midweek during the less popular months of the year or be reactive to Disney’s year-round offerings, you’ll be rewarded with lower ticket prices and deals at area hotels,» Doyle said.

Luckily for Disney fans who can be flexible with their travel days, the lowest prices for Level 0 tickets have not increased since 2019. Throughout last year, Disneyland has offered discounted tickets, including a nearly four-month summer sale that reduced three-day ticket prices from $390 to $299.

Earlier this month, Disneyland announced a limited-time offer of child-priced tickets. For children ages 3-9, tickets can cost just $50 for visits between January 7, 2025, and March 20, 2025. With this offer, Disney guests can also choose from multi-day park tickets and upgrades like additional Park Hopper passes and Lightning Lane Multi Passes. The offer goes on sale beginning October 22, 2024.

Those looking to save on a Disneyland Resort hotel can earn up to 25% on reservations of four nights or more from January 7, 2025, through March 20, 2025.

«You can always find some combination of ticket and/or hotel discounts to save on your trip,» Doyle said.
