With a powerful propulsion system and an interior designed for comfort, the vehicle promises a superior driving experience and competitive autonomy in its segment.
The new 2025 Volvo EX90 sits at the top of Volvo’s product lineup. It offers three rows of seating, a Google -based infotainment system with a 14-inch touchscreen, advanced driver assistance technology, and up to 500 kilometers of range thanks to its 111 kWh battery .

All Volvo EX90 models feature standard all-wheel drive , with the standard » Twin Motor » powertrain delivering 402 horsepower and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.

The upgraded version, Twin Motor Performance , delivers 510 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds.

The Volvo EX90 starts at 79,995 for the base Twin Motor (402 hp) Plus model . It includes 20-inch wheels , Digital Key technology (phone as a key), a fixed panoramic roof, a head-up display, an integrated second-row child booster seat, a Bose premium audio system , radar cruise control with lane-keeping assist, and an EPA- estimated 300 miles (483 kilometers) of driving range .

The Ultra version of the Twin Motor model adds air suspension, soft-closing doors, massaging front seats, welcome lights and 53-centimeter wheels , and is priced at $84,345. This model has a range of 500 kilometers .

The Twin Motor Performance version (510 hp) of the EX90, in its Plus version , costs US$ 84,995 and includes the same features as the Twin Motor Plus model .

An EX90 with the Twin Motor Performance engine in Ultra trim is priced at $89,345 . Ultra models can be equipped with 22-inch wheels, but these reduce the EPA -estimated range by 10 miles, bringing it back to 300 miles.

Volvo says it can charge at up to 250 kilowatts, which would allow the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes.

Our time in the Volvo EX90 confirmed the brand’s claims of being the quietest, most refined and most advanced model in its history. The Google-based infotainment system uses an intuitive interface, accessible via the 14.5-inch central touchscreen. Voice commands for audio, climate and navigation allow occupants to bypass the touchscreen.

The 9-inch digital driver’s display seems a little small in such a large and luxurious vehicle, but it offers several formats ranging from simple speed information to navigation directions, and is complemented by the head-up display.

The front-row seats are comfortable and feature heating and massage function, with quilted stitching in a non-leather material. In fact, most interior components are made from synthetic or alternative materials, which at first glance appear luxurious… although closer inspection reveals that they don’t look or feel like traditional luxury surfaces.

The power-folding third-row seats expand passenger capacity to seven, but adults will find head and legroom somewhat limited. These seats, along with the second row, can be folded flat to increase cargo capacity.

Clever interior design elements include ample storage space beneath the center console, a flat load floor with additional, organized storage space beneath, and ambient cabin lighting that seeks to replicate natural daylight (without flickering) to reduce occupant fatigue.

A 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system with three-dimensional Dolby Atmos technology is also offered , creating a realistic soundstage. What’s also nice is that 5G connectivity and over-the-air ( OTA ) update technology allow you to update various systems without having to visit a dealership.

Driving Volvo ’s EX90 , a three-row electric SUV , reminded us why EVs are so much fun—in a straight line. With up to 910 Nm of torque, the model never hesitates under acceleration, despite weighing more than 2,700 kilograms in the Twin Motor Performance Ultra versions we tested.

This same weight limits handling potential. It gives it a solid, but not particularly agile, feel. Using the “firm” settings for both the steering and suspension didn’t help, as the optional 56-centimeter tires on our test car offered a harsh ride over medium- to large-sized bumps.

Between the reduction in range and driving quality, we would suggest opting for the 53 or 51 centimeter wheels.

On the other hand, you know that a smoother driving experience is better suited to the car’s comfortable seats and quiet cabin, especially when enjoying the Bowers & Wilkins audio system , which makes the most of the Volvo’s laminated glass to reduce outside noise.

With a towing capacity of 2,177 kilograms, the EX90 can transport not only passengers and their luggage, but also tow additional trailers or vehicles on the next family adventure.

We’re not yet sure the infrastructure is ready for tomorrow’s version of a family road-trip vehicle, but it seems Volvo is.
