Warner Bros. Discovery earns $125 million in Q3

Streaming platform Max achieves its largest quarterly increase in subscribers since its launch.

The audiovisual conglomerate Warner Bros. Discovery recorded a net profit of 135 million dollars (125 million euros) at the end of the third quarter of the year, in contrast to the red figures of 417 million dollars (388 million euros) recorded by the company a year earlier.

The company’s revenue for the quarter totalled $9.62 billion (€8.95 billion), down 3.6% from July to September last year, with streaming business up 8% to $2.63 billion (€2.45 ​​billion). At the end of the third quarter, it had 110.5 million subscribers, representing an increase of 7.2 million compared to the previous three months, while the number of paying users increased by 14.6 million compared to the previous year .

“Warner Bros. Discovery’s third quarter results once again demonstrate that while we continue to face extraordinary disruption in our environment, the strategy we have adopted to prepare Warner Bros. Discovery for future success is showing significant results,” said David Zaslav , President and CEO of the multinational.

The executive highlighted the acceleration of growth in the streaming business, after Max generated «the largest quarterly gain since the launch of the platform» in subscriber numbers, resulting in healthy growth in subscriber-related revenue and significant progress towards achieving the financial objectives of this business for 2025 .

In the case of the film studios , the multinational’s revenues reached a total of 2.68 billion dollars (2.493 billion euros) in the quarter, 17% less, while the television channels division invoiced 5.01 billion dollars (4.66 billion euros), 3% more. In addition, in the first nine months of the year, the company registered smaller losses than the previous year; that is, a figure of 10.817 billion dollars (10.062 billion euros), compared to the negative result of 2.726 billion dollars (2.536 billion euros) recorded up to September of last year.

In the case of the streaming business, revenues in the first three quarters remained stable at 7.662 billion dollars (7.127 billion euros).
