Hewlett Packard Enterprise ( HPE.N ) is in talks to buy Juniper Networks ( JNPR.N ) in a deal valued at about $13 billion, according to Reuters

A deal between the two companies could be announced as early as this week.

Shares of Hewlett Packard fell 7.7 percent, while Juniper’s jumped 21 percent in extended trade.

The deal would help strengthen the 100-year-old tech company’s offerings in artificial intelligence (AI), according to a WSJ report.

Last year, server maker HPE announced the launch of a cloud service designed to power AI systems similar to ChatGPT.

Juniper provides high-performance networking and services that include routing, switching, Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) technologies, network security, artificial intelligence enterprise network operations (AIOps), and software-defined networking (SDN) technologies.
