IMPORTANT QUOTE
“Last year was pivotal: from Malmö to Milan, the accessibility of generative artificial intelligence created an appetite for experimentation among consumers and companies. The accelerated adoption of AI last year helped put Europe on track to meet the Digital Decade goals,» Tanuya Randeri, managing director of Amazon Web Services, was quoted as saying by Reuters.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
In 2021, the European Commission presented its vision for the Digital Decade by 2030 to transform the region, with 80% of the population to acquire basic digital skills, 5G connectivity everywhere and 75% of EU companies using cloud services.
However, in 2022 only a quarter of EU businesses have started using artificial intelligence, and a report last year estimated that the European Union was at risk of falling 10 years behind its Digital Decade targets unless governments focus on overcoming the skills shortage problem.
