Of the 10.2 million euros budgeted for real investments, 2.5 million are reserved for projects to improve the system.

The town of Encamp will allocate a quarter of the budgeted investments to improvements to the drinking water network. According to the analysis of the accounts, recently approved in council session and published in the BOPA, the corporation has foreseen an expenditure for the 2024 financial year of just under 37.5 million euros. Of this, some 10.2 million euros correspond to actual investments and 2.5 million euros are reserved for various projects to make the network more efficient.

The budget details the investments endowed with items in excess of 50,000 euros. There are a total of seven for the water network. The most important, 1.4 million, will be used to finance the water supply to Icònic, the high altitude training center that Bomosa will operate in the old Sud Radio building, at the head of the Envalira port. The company will take advantage of the works to refer a stretch of key in this zone.

In decreasing order, the second most important item, 450,000 euros, will provide funds for the extension of the network to Torrent Pregó and Calranes. That is to say, just before reaching Meritxell on the CG-2, at the border with Canillo. In this area, on the side of the road, the excavation and stabilization works of a future urbanization are about to be finished.

In order to diversify the water sources, this year the community will open two new catchment wells in Encamp. The project is endowed with 200,000 euros. The second item that we find in the budget, 150,000 euros, will strengthen the connection between the drinking water treatment plant (DWTP) of Les Abelletes, in Pas de la Casa, and the Costa Rodona dipòsit, which together with that of Les Abelletes provides water to the border town.

This year the common foresees to refer and to waterproof the dams of Vila and Tresà. The project was budgeted for the previous fiscal year, but sources of the corporation explained in October that it would have to be carried out in the next term. These works will cost 115,000 euros. Another work planned for 2023 and that finally the council will have to leave for this year is the installation of a remote management system in these stations. The project is budgeted at 110,000 euros.

The last investment in the water network of more than 50,000 euros included in the accounts is the refurbishment of the Montuell catchment. These works will have a cost of 80.000 euros, according to the forecast of the community.

In the last year of the previous mandate, the community made several investments, most of them aimed at digitalizing the operation of the network to improve efficiency and reduce costs. One of the most important was the automation of the Pardines DWTP, which collects water from the Feritxet catchment and purifies it so that it can be consumed in Encamp. They also began to install remote management systems in the pipes and repaired the pressure reducers of the network, among other actions. A total of 320,000 euros were invested.
