It’s healthy, delicious and easy to make at home. This smoothie is more than just juice. We also show you three great recipes!
In the 1960s, American hippies proved to be experimental not only in sexuality and drugs, but also in the field of gastronomy. For example, drinks made from mashed fruit, which had been looked down upon until then, quickly became popular within the subculture that was becoming more and more widespread.
Thanks mostly to the fact that the ingredients were mixed together with gusto so that the end result is then tossed with various mind-modifiers.
And with the high-performance kitchen blenders that appeared at the time, they made the special cocktails, which they only called smoothies, easier to consume than ever before.
After the bursting of the hippie bubble, the fruit smoothie did not disappear, but until the 20th century. it had to wait until the end of the century for it to become really popular. At that time, however, the smoothie suddenly exploded, in parallel with the healthy lifestyle becoming fashionable. By the beginning of the 2000s, the distribution of such products already guaranteed billions of dollars in revenue year after year, and its popularity has not waned.
Why are smoothies good?
Of course, this is not surprising at all! A good smoothie is much more than juice squeezed from a plant. It is like a jug of ambrosia, the drink of the Greek gods, next to a glass of water.
It can be compared to when you sit down in front of a sumptuous high-end hi-fi system, and as soon as it starts playing, the energy goes through you, you start to get goosebumps, and suddenly you think that life is not so bad.
Something remains of each ingredient, the flavors swirl in the mouth, softly merging and building on each other.
And the end result is more than the sum of the ingredients. Just as a finished house is more valuable than a pile of bricks, a pile of gravel, cement, roof tiles and many cans of paint next to each other.
How is it made and what is needed?
Making a smoothie is very easy: Put the cleaned and peeled fruits and/or vegetables, as well as milk, yogurt, water, ice or spices in a blender.
Then stir it until the mass becomes completely homogeneous. After that, you just have to pour it into a glass and you can already enjoy it. So there is no need to cook or refrigerate, it is prepared raw, and thus no valuable trace elements are lost.
What does it take?
The right quality ingredients are vital, because if the fruits and vegetables have no taste, then we are doomed. Of course, the recipe also matters, it doesn’t matter what we combine with what.
But the right blender is also of great importance. It must be strong enough to shear the fibers and thoroughly mix the ingredients. During high-speed mixing, the material foams up and air is introduced into it, further loosening its structure. Thanks to this, a good smoothie will be really soft and silky.
Bred for it
I used a Philips HR3030 blender, which was specially developed for making smoothies. It has a powerful engine, and its blades are longer and thicker than usual.
This way, the machine can easily handle even the hardest frozen or stone fruits. Its large, thick-walled, massive, high-capacity, two-liter glass cup is shaped to guide the ingredients into the vortex.
It is very easy to handle, nothing can be damaged, and thanks to the suction cup located at the bottom, it will not jump, even if the engine is running at full speed. It comes with a stunner, which can be used to comfortably tear everything down the machine monster’s throat, which has been cut out with steel knives. It’s easy to clean, you can put it in a dishwasher without any problems, and it even looks good. So if someone is looking for a great blender that can also be used to make smoothies, you’ve found it!
3 flawless smoothie recipes
It is a true four-season drink, as there is no day or minute of the year when it is not good. It’s easy to digest, can be consumed at any time, and it’s great to start the day with such an energy bomb in the morning. It’s a great refresher in the summer, and it’s also totally healthy.
Here are three smoothie recipes that can work very well in this hellish heat. I didn’t use any ingredients of animal origin, but of course plant milk can be replaced with real milk. I preferred dates instead of processed sugar because it is a natural sweetener.
Skincare Peach Bomb
Fruits and vegetables rich in beta-carotene can be especially useful in summer. They can be recognized by their orange color, and by consuming them, you can help your skin tan and not burn.
Skin-protecting Peach Bomba smoothie recipe with a fancy name:
- 2 peaches
- 2 apricots
- 1 orange
- Juice of 1 quarter lemon
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Peanut Butter Energy Source
It’s a real energy grenade, which is not only wonderfully delicious, but also helps you to energize yourself when you don’t feel like moving after the afternoon siesta.

Acrid Heat
It’s a perfect cooling drink in the heat! I recommend it primarily to those who like more sour and tart flavors. In very hot weather, I use store-bought frozen cherries, which has the advantage of not having to mess with pitting.
The tart smoothie recipe with a fancy name:
- 5 plums
- A handful of frozen cherries
- 4-5 cherry tomatoes
- 2 dates
- 1 small carrot
- Juice of 1 quarter lemon
- 1 dl vegetable milk
