The community wants to know the details of the Government’s project before giving up any land
The council of Andorra la Vella will not cede the land in the Plaça de Braus to the government to build the National Museum before knowing whether the citizens agree with the project. The corporation wants to ask the opinion of the cultural sector and the citizens of the parish as a whole on the proposal of the executive to allocate the plot to the National Museum.
Sources from the community confirmed to the Diari yesterday that the councillors conveyed this position to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport at a meeting held a few days ago. The Prada Casadet land is owned by the community thanks to the urban cession.
On the other hand, the corporation pointed out that it is not currently in a position to place an alternative land for the museum on the site. The community, in short, wants to wait for the details of the proposal for museum equipment proposed by the executive to be known before offering another plot of land. The will of Sergi González and Olalla Losada is that the land fits the project.
The government is working with the prospect that by 2025 the National Museum project could be underway. It is worth remembering that in the 2024 budget no funds have been earmarked for this project, as the government wants to prioritise investment in the acquisition and refurbishment of properties in order to build subsidised housing there.
The proposal to locate the National Museum in the Plaça de Braus had the backing of the previous municipal majority. The idea has been received with more caution by the current government team.
